 Preparedness is the Island Way

It is up to you to ensure that you and your family are prepared. Doing nothing means you’re counting on others to take care of you. The island way is to be prepared.

Keep it simple, start today.

We present 4 clear steps to preparedness

and we supply printable fliers to accompany each step

First off, everyone needs to be prepared to be on their own for two weeks. Our Preparedness Calendar helps you by setting monthly goals that will lead you towards being fully prepared after a year of simple steps.

Once you and your family are prepared, we ask that you look at our Neighborhood Preparedness pamphlet. Neighbors taking care of neighbors is a bit of a lost art nowadays, but it is a critical part of living in the islands. Feel free to use this useful template that goes along with the flyer.

And once your home and your neighborhood are prepared, we'd like you to review our Guide for Businesses and Organizations. Your church, volunteer group, employer, business, or non-profit all have a critical role to play in both preparing for and responding to a disaster. This template may be a useful starting point.

Finally, it makes sense to spend a few minutes to think about how a community responds to an actual disaster, and what you can do to ensure that the response is positive and helpful. Take a look at our flyer called Disaster! Now What?

*Note that these flyers are designed to be double-side printed and then cut in half the long way. We like to print on colored paper. What is the one thing to know? That you're responsible for your own preparedness. No one else will do it for you.
